Fanzines with Cassandra Stories

Last Updated 07/11/99

So Speaks the Hero -- This general audience Highlander zine from Ashton Press has several Cassandra stories as well as some poetry focusing on Cassandra and Methos. In "My Side" by Elizabeth A. Kowols, Cassandra tries to present her feelings regarding Methos. In "The Best Revenge" by Devo, Cassandra tries to come to terms with her past and her feelings about Methos following Bordeaux. Lots of other stories focusing on Methos, Joe, Richie, and Duncan. Then the Night Comes by Ann Wortham & Leah Rosenthal -- This novel takes place immediately following the events of "Archangel," and so compromises an alternate universe sixth season from the actual aired series. Cassandra plays a large role in the novel when Joe Dawson is forced to go to her to help both Methos and MacLeod survive Ahriman's attacks. The Lightning's Hand by Ann Wortham & Leah Rosenthal -- This novel is a direct sequel to "Then the Night Comes." Again, Cassandra plays a large part in the story. You can e-mail her at lknight@nas.com or connect directly to her web pages at KnightWriter Press.

Revelations -- This adult Highlander zine from Ashton Press (mostly slash, but with one straight Cassandra/Methos story) has a couple of Cassandra stories. In "Judas Kiss" by Cori Lannam, Methos remembers how he left the Horsemen and considers the nature of betrayal during the time leading up to a final showdown between himself and Cassandra. In "Visions of Methos: A Sweet Winter's Tale" by Elizabeth (Dragonfly) Kowols, Cassandra finally has her "revenge" on Methos after taking a little advice from Amanda! In "Swords at Sunset" by Attilla the HunEE, Cassandra has a small appearance in an alternate universe Highlander romance, a la Harlequin! Click on the title to see some examples of artwork, story excerpts, and ordering information or contact Linda Knights, our publisher. You can e-mail her at lknight@nas.com or connect directly to her web pages at KnightWriter Press.

Potpourri -- This general audience (R-rated, perhaps) multi-media zine contains several Cassandra stories, two of them parodies by Leah Rosenthal and Ann Wortham, with cartoons by Leah. There are also several other Highlander stories in the zine, as well as stories from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sentinel and others. Contact Dianne Smith for ordering information.

Highland Blades #3 -- This general audience Highlander zine contains one Cassandra story, "Alive and Kicking" by Ann Wortham & Laura Virgil. It takes place immediately after "Revelation 6:8" and is yet another take on the "Cassandra comes after Methos for revenge" theme. Hey, even I write them, see? Contact Linda Hutcheson at LHGraphics@aol.com for ordering information. The zine is also now available from Linda Knights. You can e-mail her at lknight@nas.com or connect directly to her web pages at KnightWriter Press. The story is also now archived at the Ashton Press story site.

Concupiscence #5 -- This multi-media slash (very adult) zine contains two Highlander stories. "Shades of Grey" by Mairead Triste is the story with Cassandra in it. It is primarily a Methos/Duncan and Methos/Kronos story, but there are some extremely hot scenes with Cassandra during her early days in the Horsemen's camp. This story is very graphic. Cassandra isn't treated particularly badly in it (in other words, she isn't a raving maniac), but she isn't the main focus. Alas, the zine is now permanently out of print, but you might be able to find it in zine sales.

Update 12/25/98: "Shades of Grey" is now posted on a website or two, including The Seventh Dimension Highlander Fan Fiction Archive. Want to read a review of this story?

Lucifer Falling by Kitty Fisher -- A novel that takes place immediately following the events of "Comes a Horseman" and "Revelation 6:8." Cassandra is the villain in this piece, out for revenge and Methos' head. Warning: Adult/slash story (Methos/Duncan). Contact Kathleen Resch for ordering information. The zine is also now available from Linda Knights. You can e-mail her at lknight@nas.com or connect directly to her web pages at KnightWriter Press

Highland Fling #4 -- Contains an excellent story by Roxanne Longstreet called "A Love of Death." It's told from Cassandra's point of view and deals with her trying to come to terms with a contrite Methos (who shows up on her doorstep) in the present day. Want to read a review of this story? Contact Peggy Spalding for ordering information.
